Tom Spreadborough collected his first win as a professional with a display of excellent golf resulting in a two-shot win over Paul Maddy, with Hollands, Mats Markovits in third place a further three shots adrift.
Spreadborough was the model of consistency, scoring three rounds where he improved his score each day, posting rounds of 69,68,67 for a total of 12 under par to win the “Pinheiros Altos Open”.
Markovits and Curtis Knipes held the joint lead after the first round, on 4 under par and continued to hold the lead on 7 under, after the second round, where they were joined by Spreadborough for the final round shoot out.
While Spreadborough forged ahead playing faultless golf, both Knipes and Markovits started to fall away and it was the charging Maddy who posted a best of the day final round of 65 to hold the clubhouse lead.
However, it was Spreadborough who held his form to earn a well deserved first win on the Portugal Pro Tour.
