Mathias Besard claimed a commanding win at the Palmares Open I, posting an outstanding 11 under par (205). The Belgian player closed with a superb 66, sealing his place at the top by three shots.
Besard’s steady first two rounds of 70 and 69 set the foundation, but it was his final-day surge that separated him from the field. With consistent control and a calm finish, he outpaced a strong international lineup.
UK representative Arron Edwards Hill finished in second place at −8 (208) after rounds of 74, 66, and 68, showing resilience after a slower start. Just one shot back was Josef Hacker at −7 (209), whose 72-69-68 effort kept him firmly in contention throughout the event.
A tie for fourth at −6 (210) went to Portugal’s Tomás Melo Gouveia and Korea’s Jung Min Hong, both delivering consistent scoring across all three rounds.
The top ten also featured Scotland’s Sam Locke at −4 (212), followed by a competitive pack including Estonia’s Kevin Jegers, UK’s Reis Suart, Estonia’s Mattias Varjun, and Portugal’s Pedro Figueiredo, the latter finishing at even par after a composed final round of 72.
