Sam Potter delivers dominant performance to win Palmares Open III

Sam Potter produced a calm and assured performance across three rounds to claim victory at the Palmares Open III, played at Palmares Golf Lagos – Praia on 15 February. The UK professional finished the aggregated stroke play event on 15 under par (201), topping the leaderboard after a week of consistent, high-quality scoring.

Potter laid the foundations early and remained in control throughout the tournament, carding rounds of 67, 68 and 66. His ability to limit mistakes while continuing to create scoring chances proved crucial, particularly as the chasing pack attempted to close the gap during the final round.

Welsh professional Jake Hapgood emerged as Potter’s nearest challenger, finishing in second place on 12 under par (204). Hapgood stayed firmly in contention with solid rounds of 68 and 67 before a closing 69, but despite sustained pressure, he was unable to overhaul the leader.

Third place was shared on 10 under par (206) by England’s Oliver Smith and UK amateur Max Reynolds. Both players showed strong form throughout the week, posting consistent scores across all three rounds to secure a podium finish in a competitive field.
